Reading The Romance Novels »
Many people start their writing careers by writing romance novels. Some move on to pure fiction or even script writing, but any of them find that they love to write romance, and they stick with it. Some of these authors put out book after book, and their fans are loyal. Take Danielle Steele for example. She’s not really referred to as a romance writer, but many of her stores heavily revolve around romance. She is a fiction writer, but many that love romance novels also love to read her work.

Observing Audience Response »
Every time a new show is launched on TV, it has to be tested on a sample panel of viewers. Ratings are everything and audience response must be gauged before further investment is put into a show. Sometimes, movies are tested out too, by showing alternative endings to see which one gets the better audience response. All this testing is not an exact science, but it must point the way and help with direction. Sometimes an audience response is responsible for million dollar budget decisions. Of course, some storylines can't be altered. The Titanic sunk and we can't do anything about that.

Memoirs Of A Geisha (DVD) Review »
Nominated for six Academy Awards, and winner of three, Memoirs Of A Geisha holds its own as one of the best films of 2005. Veteran Hollywood screenwriter Robin Swicord does a superb job of adapting Arthur Golden’s bestselling novel to the big screen. This film has all the elements of a classic drama – jealousy, politics, intrigue, forbidden love, and an abundance of internal and external conflicts of varying types. Viewers in search of a typical Hollywood blockbuster will be greatly disappointed, but those who appreciate a good character-driven film which takes the time to develop the motivations of its cast and build to a climax will discover a splendid gem which offers a welcome escape from reality.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (DVD) Review »
One of a handful of films which epitomizes the 1980s decade, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off captured the imagination of high school kids all across America as they dreamt of mimicking the title character’s ability to manipulate the authority figures in his life. Written and directed by John Hughes, the brains behind The Breakfast Club (1985) and numerous other 1980’s cult classics, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off launched Matthew Broderick’s acting career into another dimension. In fact, Broderick garnered a Golden Globe nomination for his outstanding performance. It’s a nomination more than worthy of mention, because it’s the strength of the Ferris Bueller character that made this film such a smash hit.

Searching Online Art Galleries »
I was in a home once that was literally loaded with fine art. We're talking phenomenal sculptures and immaculate paintings galore. I spoke with the owner, an acquaintance of mine, regarding the arts value. He said it had no value. Or maybe he said it was invaluable. Oh well, it was one or the other. The truth is you couldn't pay me to haul it to the dump.
