What Do You Do When Your Child Has A Bully Problem?
Recent studies have shown that bullying is one of the most preoccupying problems concerning kids all around the world. The attacks vary in type, magnitude and recurrence; however most of them force the victim to isolate from society, which could result in a loss of confidence and other more serious problems in the future. You can see many of the kids who are victims of bullying acting different from the way they used to.
Different courses of action have been taken so far in order to prevent this from happening, it is very important to let the victim know that she is not the responsible for the situation, there is nothing wrong with her thoughts or actions, and the problem relies in the bully. It is also important to encourage the victim to let others know about the situation, the bully only wins when the victim remains silent.
This recurring problem is especially frequent in children who are somehow different from their classmates: fat, short, foreign, etc. are the most recurrent types of children who suffer from harassment in one way or another. This harassment is the cause of many problems that begs to be addressed by adults who, in many cases, turn there head and think the problem is just kids being kids.
If we are ever going to combat this problem, the best way to do it is by teaching our kids to be proud of who they are, to let them know that no one has the right to bully them. It is also important to let them handle the situation by themselves, since this will empower their self esteem.
