Will The Guyana World Cup 2007 Get Onboard?
There are a lot of questions about the Guyana World Cup 2007. Most of them are is Guyana ready to host such a large event? Will the upcoming elections currently uncertain whether it will be on time pose a threat to the Guyana World Cup 2007 being held in Guyana?
Guyana being a small under developed country in a 3rd world nation has a lot of problems. Elections are up-coming and always results in violence, thus the U.S. State department issues warning about traveling to Countries that are unstable.
We hope that for once in the History of Guyana elections that we can get through this one without the violence that comes from the opposing political parties.
Guyana is behind Schedule in building a new stadium to host the World Cup 2007 Matches and if we are not ready, all the investments made by local companies in hopes of making money from the thousands of visitors that will be in Guyana, will be lost.
Guyana is already a poor country and such a disaster as not being ready or having violence in the country would set Guyana back another 50 years in time making Guyana the poorest Country in the Would.
I am certain if the Political Bodies get their acts together and complete the elections in a fair manner, we should have no problems in that area.
As far as the Stadium being ready? Well, we will have to wait and see what excuses the contractors will have.
Guyana World Cup Stadium building contract was not even given to a local company because the Government of Guyana has no confidence in its local contractors.
All in All, I hope we get through this once in a life time chance to prosper without hindrance from our own Government.
