What Every Employee Should Know About Their Source for Success

Mr. Hugh S. Bell gives his readers a five-point formula for developing a level needed to become successful.

In his book, How to Be a Winner in Selling, Mr. Hugh S. Bell, gives his readers a five-point formula for developing the level of enthusiasm needed to become successful. Here is his formula:

  • Expose yourself to enthusiasts. It is well known that we tend to emulate the mannerisms, attitudes, and habits of those with whom we associate. Therefore, if you associate with people who are successful, you increase your potential of becoming successful.
  • Let yourself go. When you are impressed with someone or something, let yourself go by expressing your excitement. If you need an example to get you going, just think of how spectators in the stand react whenever their team does something impressive during a game. Let yourself go with the same amount of energy and excitement.
  • Become an actor. Our imagination can be our best friend or worst enemy. Remember how, as children, we used to pretend to the point of acting as if we were really doctors, princesses, Tarzan, and others? The acting was so strong that for that moment we stopped being ourselves and actually became whoever we imagined ourselves to be. Likewise, instead of losing this play-acting skill, why not act in real life the successful person we want to be?
  • Speak with emphasis and conviction. Practice speaking so that what you say becomes vital and exciting. To do that, imagine what your attitude and reaction would be if you suddenly learned that you won a million-dollar lottery.

  • Be sincere. Without sincerity, enthusiasm lacks foundation or real meaning. Non-sincere enthusiasm is a facade that people see through easily.

Enjoying what you do is the primary ingredient for becoming an enthusiastic person. And enthusiastic people place themselves on the road to success. By the way, whether you are in sales or not, I highly recommend that you read Mr. Bell's book from cover to cover.

Remember: When you maximize your potential, everyone wins. When you don't, we all lose.
